When transmitter is removed from the receiver a signal is generated when there is a predetermined distance between them. The mechanism for triggering the signal may be one of two variations. The signal strength may decrease with increasing distance or by expanding the system using signal propagation time measurement. The transmitter and receiver are both fastened to a person or movable object or animal. The transmitter or receiver may also have a call button with a transmitter to generate a search signal. A feedback mechanism in the transmitter and receiver can be used with more than two units.
