An, esp. centrifugal, pump used as the water circulating pump for household appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines has suction and pressure connections and an impeller (7) which compresses radially and has several blades extending from the impeller centre to its circumference to transfer washing fluid. Here the impeller blades (8) have a distinctly long shape. If such a pump has an impeller with one or more holes drilled through it for ventilation, the impeller here has rifled current channels extending outwards in its lower side base and originating from one of the drill-holes (13).
