Calculating aid for calculations with simplified operand input via one or several control elements. In prior art calculation aids, e.g. digital calculators, operands are fed in via a numeric keyboard. Single-handed operation is therefore almost impossible or very difficult if there is not suitable support available. The novel calculating aid is designed for single-handed operation, with the aid operated and held by one and the same hand, leaving the other hand free for other operations. The operands are fed by position. The basic symbol needed for the position to be inputted is selected by repeated operation of the same control element from the basic set of symbols. The calculating unit makes it possible to perform any calculating operations. For example, several sums of money may be inputted successively via three control elements and displayed as a sum.
