A process for producing a reinforcing element for asbestos-free abrasive materials is described. In this process, during the production of an asbestos-free multiple yarn which contains heterogeneous yarns and is used as a reinforcing element for abrasive materials, a multiplying treatment is carried out without twisting at the same time as a bulking treatment, the heterogeneous yarns being fed at different speeds, and a liquid jet being used.
