The machine has jaws (3) which grip the hollow-section material (2) holding it axially and radially. A slotting cutter has two (4) toothed blades (5) which move radially to the section and have a gap of less than the section diameter. Above and beneath the section and moving radially in toward the section are stamping blades (6,7). As the slotter moves across the section, the blades cut slits in the wall. The slotter is removed and the stamping blades brought down and up the blade point, entering the slot with the sloping blade edges and cutting through the remaining section wall material.
