Method and apparatus for the supply of sprinkler systems in high dwelling - and / or office buildings with extinguishing fluid

The method involves supplying an extinguishing liquid, esp. water, to separate sprinkler systems in two or more pressure zones, arranged above one another in a tall building. The sprinkler networks in the uppermost zone (1), are supplied directly by a pipe (5) with fluid pumped from a reservoir, which pref. is located near the base of the building. The sprinkler network in the next uppermost zone is supplied indirectly, through downpipes from an intermediate container (7), which is fed from the pumped supply. Subsequent lower zones can be fed either from further overhead intermediate containers, or directly from the pumped supply. The containers are positioned with sufficient elevation to give the required pressure head.
