Poly vinyl chloride containing a thermoplastic elastomer composition

PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition decreased in a compression set, improved in processability and tensile strength and usable as a substitute for a vulcanized rubber by reacting a vinyl chloride resin with a nitrile rubber, a plasticizer and a curing agent by kneading at a specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. vinyl chloride resin of an average degree of polymerization of 700-6000 is mixed with 20-300 pts.wt. nitrile rubber of a combined acrylonitrile content of 20-45%, 25-200 pts.wt. plasticizer (e.g., di-2ethylhexyl phthalate), 10-200 pts.wt. filler (e.g., CaCO3), at least 0.1 pt.wt. curing agent (e.g., ZnO) and, optionally, a heat stabilizer, a lubricant, a processing aid, a pigment, a flame retardant, etc., and the obtained mixture is reacted by kneading at 140-220 deg.C to obtain the title composition of a tensile strength =120kg/cm2 and a compression set =40% (after compression at 70 deg.C for 22hr in a compression ratio of 25%).
