PURPOSE:To prevent contamination or blinding by adding a specific nonionic surfactant, 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pentanone and a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:0.5-50wt.% of at least one compound selected from an ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide adduct of 2-ethyl-1,3-hexane diol and acetylene alcohol as an nonionic surfactant, 1-30wt.% of at least one compound selected from 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pentanone and/or compounds represented by formulae I-III (wherein R is a methyl group, an ethyl group, a propyl group or a butyl group) and 30-70wt.% of water are contained. By this method, damping water characteristics are made excellent and the generation of foam is reduced and stable printing can be performed.
