PURPOSE: To produce an Al alloy excellent in both static strength and dynamic strength by rapidly heating Al alloy powder contg. an amorphous phase and having a specified compsn. contg. an element accelerating the formation of an amorphous phase to a high temp. and forging the heated powder. ;CONSTITUTION: An Al alloy having a compsn. represented by Al100-a-bFeaXb (where X is Y or misch metal, 4.0≤a≤6.0at.% and 1.0≤b≤4.0at.%) or Al100-a-b-cFeaSibXc (where X is Ti, Co, Ni, Mn or Cr, 3.0≤a≤6.0at.%, 0.5≤b≤3.0at.% and 0.5≤c≤3.0at.%) is atomized in inert gas, etc., to obtain Al alloy powder contg. ≥1vol.% amorphous phase. This powder is heated to a specifiedy temp. between 560°C, preferably 600°C and a temp. at which 10% lig. phase is contained at ≥80°C/min heating rate after the powder is formed into a green compact if necessary. The Al alloy powder or its green compact is then forged at the specific temp. to obtain the objective high yield strength and high toughness Al alloy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
