A restaurant having a self-service facility for food and drinks has tables equipped with a number of dispense terminals appropriate to the solid or liquid foodstuffs available to order. The diagram illustrates five terminals (1 to 5) fitted as drinks dispensers with taps and spill control connected to a central distribution unit (6), cask (7) and CO2 cylinder (8) via the conduits (21 to 25) with corresponding signal connections (31 to 35). Overall operational/commercial control, e.g., metering, pricing, etc., is exercised via the computer (9), multiplexer (10) and bus (40) which also incorporates a table-to-control intercommunication feature for push-button ordering, consumption display, billing fault-reporting, etc.
