Moss tissues, such as lumps of tissue, gametophytes, calli, protonemas, spores, gemmae, underground stems or sectioned rhizoids, are grown in pure culture, in a culture medium, in order to generate seedlings (crop generators) corresponding to plumules, and the seedlings are sown in a nursery, at a desired colony density and then appropriately maintained.
