The apparatus consists of a centre-medullary rod (26) which is aligned with the lengthwise axis of the femur (1), a cutting guide (21) for the tool used to cut the distal end of the femur transversely, a goniometer (12) to position the cutter guide relative to the lengthwise axis of the femur, and a cutter guide angle regulator (21).
