Treatment of the fly ash coming from a incinerator waste materials, and containing the chlorides of toxic metals

Treating toxic metal chloride-contg. flyash from a waste incinerator involves subjecting the flyash to high temp. phosphorylation using a phosphorus cpd. reagent to convert the chlorides to phosphates, the novelty being that the phosphorus cpd. is a non-metallic cpd. and that the resulting chlorine-contg. products are discharged in gaseous form. Also claimed is a plant for carrying out the above treatment.
