Filter unit comprises a reservoir (9) for the material to be filtered having a conical male end (with a 6 % taper) fitting into the female upper tip (10) of the same shape on the filter (2). The filtered material is collected in a tube (6) which has its upper end (7) shaped to support the filter. The filter (2) fits into a support (1) made e.g. from PTFE and having an air outlet (8). The dimensions of the reservoir, receiving tube and filter are determined by their specific uses.
