The lamp is in the form of a cuboid box housing the battery, a flasher unit and the light source, and is attached to a clip. The clip is designed to easily attach to a vehicle, a person or a fixed object. The clip (18) has two jaws (19,20) joined by a pivot (23). A series of notches (21,22) are formed on the inner faces of the arms, positioned so they face each other to form passages. The notches are of differing dimensions, forming grips to allow attachment of the clip to supports of differing dimensions. The passages are hexagonal in shape to give a good grip on both rectangular supports and round supports. The two jaws are held in the closed position by a spring.
