Multi-access network cell communication with double flow monitoring - performing interstation monitoring using decongestion mechanisms and origin-to-destination monitoring by relay operation with or without token-passing
The method enables four stations (S1-S4) interconnected by two rings (alpha ,beta ) to exchange cells of constant length via unidirectional transmission lines. The sublayer of connection- and non-connection-oriented services is the common base of integrated services of the data link layer of the OSI reference model. A transfer unit (21) comprises a finite sequence of cells (22) in which each data field contains one of the fragments (23) of a data unit (24). The congestion threshold concept solves the problem of fair distribution of local transfer unit cells among a limited number of transfer units circulating with minimum delays.
