Honeycomb foam anti-bed-sore mattress prodn. preventing air entrapment - using mould cover with diamond-shaped asperities for escape of air to vents so polyurethane foam mechanical properties are not affected

Prodn. process for anti-bedsores mattress (4) in honeycombed foam (16) having juxtapositional modules (3), each module mould having a lower part (5) presenting on its top reliefs (6) or cells for contacts, of a common medical waffle type and a cover (8). The force of the cover facing the base has diamond (10) shaped asperities of 5-15 mm. depth from tip to base and numbering 10-100 per cell. These reduce and spread the volume of air bubbles (17) of large size. In the absence of the asperities the air bubbles can extend some centimetres without being able to escape through the vent holes (11), therefore being imprisoned between the cover foam interface. Also claimed is the mattress produced.
