The product spreader consists of an inclined support (2), down which rolls or slides the bale (3) of the product to be distributed. A chain (5), rotates in a closed loop and is fitted with a series of teeth (6). The teeth, on the upper surface (13) of the slope, drive the product from the bales, up the slope to the distribution point (7) at the upper point of the support. The teeth are mounted on the chain by pivots (10), which are able to pivot around an axis, which lies transversely to the direction of travel of the chain. The lower end of the teeth is formed as a follower (11). The follower is contacted by, and slides along, the guides (12). The follower controls the angle of the teeth with the upper surface of the chain during the period when the teeth are picking up the product from the bale.
