The roof rack which is fixed on the vehicle roof (3) comprises a tubular section bar (1) having in its lower wall, near one end, a slot (12) extending longitudinally along the bar. Two supports (2,2') which support the bar from underneath at or near its ends are fixed to the vehicle roof. Fixing bolts (8) whose threaded shank pass through the slot clamp the bar on each support. The bolts are screwed into a tapped hole (9a) in a part (9). The part or the bolt head (8a) is housed in the support and is not accessible from the outside for locking or unlocking. The bar has in its upper wall, near each end, an opening (11) giving access to the bolt head to allow locking or unlocking. A removable cache blocks each of the openings in the upper wall.
