The device includes a sun-shade sheet (9) carried on a horizontal roller (7) mounted at the top end of the roof, and fixed on its free part on a load beam (6) parallel to the axis of the roller. The lateral ends of the beam are subjected to be displaced in two parallel guides (4,5) extending from each edge of the roof, with each beam fixed by straps or similar (12) to the interior of the guides. This strap is rolled around a return pulley (13), provided on the end of each guide. It includes a complementary flap (15), carried by the load beam, extending parallel and in front of this w.r.t the cover sheet, this flap pivoted on the beam with the interposition of a spring element spring (21) to cause a surmounting of the flap towards the top, clear over the pulley, and to wrap the free end over the top of the pulley thus tensioning the sunshade. The flap has an internal extension (27) disposed between its free end and base, and having a flat end (28) which is in contact with the pulley strap causing the flap to rest on and move with the strap.
