The main body (321B), a one-piece, generally conical moulding (301, 303) closed at the top (321A), has a decorative bottom trim (313) concealing the hole (400) in the false ceiling (401) within which the fitting is clipped (312). The folded-tube lamp (41) lies horizontally (XX) just under the enclosed top (321A) which, metallised internally like the lower body (321B), reflects downward. The lamp base (4), containing the starter gear, has an ES or bayonet cap fitting a socket (5) clamped (6,7) to an integrally moulded support bracket (303). A transverse baffle (314) restricts the angle over which the lamp is directly visible from below. Optimally, all reflecting surfaces are fabricated from polished aluminium sheet.
