The installation enables packaging meat portions of the same category into containers (C') taken from meat pieces of different categories in trays (A). An inlet post (1) weighs the trays followed by a post (2) in which operators randomly take from a tray cut pieces (X, Y, Z) and subdivide them into portions (x, y, z) which are placed in trays (B). The contents of each tray are then identified in a weighing control post (3). At a loading post (4) operators randomly take from a tray and divide the contents into a number of containers (C). This is followed by a printing post (5) where an identification mark of the meat category is affixed on each container. At an automatic sealing post (6) a plastic film is simultaneously placed on each container. The sealed containers are then passed to an automatic weighing and labelling post (7) and then to a receiving post (8). A conveyor system (10,11,12,131,4,15) transfers individual trays between the different posts.
