Insulation system for floors and roof spaces formed by triangular trusses

The system consists of lintels (12,13,16,17) made from timber battens fixed to the horizontal (11) and/or sloping (14,15) members of the roof trusses (1) to support insulating panels (2). Each panel comprises a parallelepiped foam core (21) of a width equivalent to the space between joists and having reinforcing members (24,25) along its upper edges (22,23) to engage with the lintels. The underside of each foam core is covered by a reinforcing and facing layer (28) which extends at the sides of the core by the same amount as the upper reinforcing members. Each insulating panel's core is made from polystyrene or polyurethane foam, and the facing/ reinforcing panels can be of plasterboard or plywood, attached to the underside of the foam core by adhesive.
