PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the efficient separation of an organogermanium compound and an inorganic germanium compound by applying a germanium-containing medicated plant to a specific combined column. ;SOLUTION: An extract from a germanium-containing medicated plant or its treatment product is applied to a combined column containing a cation exchange resin in the lower part of the column and an anion exchange resin in the upper part of the column. Thereby, an organogermanium compound in the extract is bonded to the upper part of the column. The combined column is eluted with deionized water and the resultant eluate is collected to thereby afford a solution containing only an inorganic germanium. The combined column is eluted with an alkaline solution to thereby release the organogermanium compound bonded to the upper part of the column and bond the organogermanium compound to the lower part of the column. The combined column is then eluted with deionized water to collect the eluate. Thereby, a solution containing only the organogermanium is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
