PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a concentrated developing composition capable of processing in a low replenishing rate while maintaining superior photographic performance and rapid processing ability, by incorporating an ascorbic acid derivative and Na ions not below a specified concentration and not above a specified molar ratio Na/(Na+K). ;SOLUTION: This developing composition contains an ascorbic acid derivative and Na ions in a concentration of ≥1.8mol/l and it has a Na/(Na+K) molar ratio of ≤0.6, and if 1.8mol/l, low replenishing is impossible, and if the Na ions are increased to maximum, the optical density after development is probable to lower, and it is preferred to restrain them to ≤3.5mol/l. The developing composition is concentrated to a concentration degree Rd of ≥1.5 times, where Rd=(Vc+Vw)/Vc in order to give preferable performance. In the formula, Vc(ml) is solution amount of the concentrated developer; Vw(ml) is added water necessary for usable solution.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
