PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject master batch capable of producing a thermoplastic resin composition excellent in antimicrobial properties and surface appearance free from yellow and crater-like graininess by compounding a polycarbonate oligomer with specific soluble phosphate glass powder. ;SOLUTION: This master batch is obtained by compounding (A) a polycarbonate oligomer having 1,000-12,000 viscosity-average molecular weight with (B) 5-40wt.% calculated as a concentration in a master batch of soluble phosphate glass powder containing Ag2O. Preferably the component A is a homopolymer or an oligomer of a polycarbonate containing one or two species of a constituent unit of the formula [R is a 1-10C (aryl-substituted) alkylidene, arylenedialkylidene, etc.; R1 to R4 are each H, a halogen, 1-4C alkyl or alkenyl] and the component B consists essentially of P2O5, Al2O3, ZnO and B2O3 and has ≤10μm average particle diameter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
