PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonmagnetic black pigment powder having excellent black color degree and heat resistance and more excellent dispersibility, and to provide a black coating material excellent in acid resistance or a black rubber and resin compsn. excellent in ageing resistance by coloring with the nonmagnetic black pigment powder. ;SOLUTION: This nonmagnetic black pigment powder consists of nonmagnetic black granules having 0.1 to 10 m average diameter and a hematite structure which essentially consists of iron and contains Mn. The nonmagnetic black powder has such properties that the amt. of Mn is 5 to 40 wt.% of the nonmagnetic black powder, that the powder pH is 5.5, that the amt. of soluble sodium salt is 500 ppm calculated as Na, and that the amt. of soluble sulfate is 200 ppm calculated as SO₄.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
