PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable measurement of mechanical heating of an inner vessel over a traveling interval even in the case where a traveling distance is short, by measuring oscillation of the inner vessel, then separating an oscillation mode, and calculating the oscillation speed, the factorial of the oscillation speed, and the oscillation acceleration or the like to measure the degree of oscillation of each oscillation mode. ;SOLUTION: Electro-magnetic oscillation is provided to a superconducting magnet by using a testing instrument capable of generating an alternating magnetic field simulating a fluctuating magnetic field by a ground coil at the time of actual traveling, and the heat generation of liquid helium is measured. At the time of this testing, unlike actual traveling, the superconducting magnet is made open-ended, and the evaporation quantity of the liquid helium can be measured by a change in liquid level of the liquid helium or the quantity of evaporated helium gas. This evaporation quantity includes various elements other than mechanical heating. However, if an appropriate measure is taken on the superconducting magnet, heating at the time of actual traveling can be estimated by measuring and calculating the oscillation speed of an inner vessel, the factorial of the oscillation speed, the oscillation acceleration, or the factorial of the oscillation acceleration, and then calculating a reduction coefficient in comparison with heating.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
