PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for removing distance ambiguity, in which high level of reliability is provided for distance which is well applied to a digital receiver, and which can provide a distance measurement that indicates low sensitivity to frequency drift of a base oscillator and noise of a receiver. ;SOLUTION: In this method, several estimation functions 21, 22, and 23 are used to calculate the distance of target detected with radar. When the results of estimation functions are almost the same, the target is defined as in such distance range as of not ambiguity, wile the results of estimation functions are different, it is defined as in such distance region as of ambiguity. Applications are especially for frequency shift keying, in other words for continuos wave radar for traffic control of cars.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
