PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the electric conductivity of a material, to attain high output in a storage battery and to made it into a large scale by composing an electrode columnar material (electrode lead material) of a storage battery of a Cu-Fe series sintering material having a specified compsn. SOLUTION: The compsn. of an electrode material sintered alloy is composed of the one contg., by weight, 10 to 30% Fe, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities. Preferably, it is regulated to the one in which 0.1 to 15% of one or = two kinds among Ni, Co and Cr are added to the compsn. Furthermore, as for the production of the electrode columnar material, as raw material powder, Fe powder, Cu powder, Ni powder, Co powder and Cr powder respectively having 325 mesh grain size are used, they are blended into prescribed compsns. and are mixed for 1hr by a mixer, and after that, this powdery mixture is compacted into a green compact under 5ton/cm2 pressure. This green compact is sintered under the conditions in which it is held to a prescribed temp. in the range of 1300 to 1400 deg.C for a time in an ammonia cracked gas and is thereafter subjected to cold forging to form into a prescribed shape. This electrode columnar material shows electric conductivity higher than that of the conventional Ni electrode columnar material.
