PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reed device capable of accurately regulating the distances between many reed needles at a equal interval in a apparatus for a preparatory work of weaving or weaving apparatus, allowing the distance between the needles to be freely expanded and contracted, further arranging the reed needles in the right same direction and thereby capable of extremely improving an efficiency of the preparatory work of weaving and heightening productivity. ;SOLUTION: Reed needles 1 are arranged in a row, and wedge-shaped spacers 2 and 3 are installed so as to be sandwiched between the reed needles 1. A spacer-moving handle 4 capable of regulating the distance to be pushed in of the wedge-shaped spacers 2 and 3 is installed and a transmitting structure for transmitting a force to a wedge-shaped plate by a screw and a gear connected to the spacer-moving handle 4. Two stopper plate 6 acting as a limit for the wedge-shaped spacers 2 and 3 to be pushed in, when regulating the distances of the reed needles 1, is installed, and a handle 7 for moving the plate 6 and capable of regulating the stopper plate to a prescribed width is also installed.
