PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the abrasion of a tape drive due to heat accumulating by applying a downward pressure to a follower roller with a driving roller when the follower roller is moved to more upward than a prescribed position during the running of a recording tape to prevent the follower roller from being brought into contact with a cover. ;SOLUTION: When the positional relation between a follower roller 13 and a driving roller 150 is a normal, the driving roller 150 mainly drives the follower roller 13 with this part. When the follower roller 13 is moved upward, the follower roller 21 is moved downward by a contact surface consisting of a part (a) and, at the same time, it is pressed upward by a contact surface consisting of a part (c). Since the part (a) has an inclination larger than that of the part (c), the follower roller 13 becomes to be hardly moved upward as compared with being moved downward from a position corresponding to the part (b) and it is made possible to prevented the follower roller 13 from being brought into contact with a cover 4. Since the inclination of a direction opposite to that of the inclination of the part (a) is provided in the part (c), the follower roller 13 is also prevented from being brought into contact with a base plate 7.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
