PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer the upper and lower end parts of each line surely while preventing to be stripped easily by dividing a recording data into upper and lower adjacent lines, recording the data while overlapping the heating elements in a partial region of recording line and setting the energy being imparted to the heating element higher at the upper and lower end of each recording line than at other regions. ;SOLUTION: At the time of driving a thermal head, heating elements for 2 dots at the upper and lower end among a plurality of heating elements arranged in the line direction of a thermal head is imparted with higher energy as compared with other heating elements through a control means. Consequently, an overcoat ink ribbon is fused at higher temperature at the end part in the line direction thereof as compared with the central part and transferred surely to a recording sheet. At the time of line feed, 4 dots from the end part of each recording line are overlapped. According to the arrangement, the upper and lower end parts of each recording line are transferred surely while preventing to be stripped easily and a high quality recording image having excellent appearance can be obtained by rendering the stitching due to paper feed error in the line direction inconspicuous.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
