PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a sloping flue section of a coke dry-quencher which uniformizes the distribution of air velocity at the sloping flue section and enables the cooling of red-hot coke and the heat recovery from red-hot coke to be performed more efficiently. ;SOLUTION: This structure includes a coke cooling tower equipped with an annular duct 15 at the periphery and a sloping flue section 22 having many small flues, which connect the inside cooling chamber 26 to the annular duct 15. and a heat recovery apparatus connected to the cooling tower. A plurality of ventilation grooves 25 leading from the chamber 26 to the flue section 22 are formed on the bottom side of the upper refractory 24 which forms a part of the inlet of the sloping flue section.
