PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrochemical cell device by which a shape change due to an electrochemical reaction in a solution on the surface of a solid can be observed with good reproducibility and easily by a method wherein a counter electrode is formed of a metal wire fixed along an O-ring for a waterproof seal and a reference electrode is connected to the solution in an electrochemical cell by using a salt bridge which is composed of a fluororesin tube and of a thread. ;SOLUTION: A counter electrode 2 which is constituted of a Pt wire is fixed along an O-ring 3. At this time, since the area of a part to be observed is changed according to the magnitude of the diameter of the O-ring, the length and the thickness of the Pt wire are changed desirably from the viewpoint of the promotion of a chemical reaction in such a way that the area of the part to be observed and the exposed surface area of the Pt wire become identical. As a reference electrode 6, an arbitrary material can be used in a plane at a distance from an optical lever by using a slat bridge. As a fluororesin tube which constitutes the salt bridge, its diameter is selected so as to correspond to a salt bridge passage which is installed in a quartz glass cell, and the thickness of a thread 7 may have a value which enters the fluororesin tube.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
