PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the evaluation accuracy of the secondary structure component ratio of protein by fixing the long-wavelength end at the prescribed wavelength, changing the short-wavelength end in sequence, calculating the secondary structure component ratio, evaluating the total value, and selecting the calculation wavelength range. ;SOLUTION: This calculation wavelength selecting method used for the calculation of the secondary structure component ratio of protein from circular dichroism data is provided with a long-wavelength end fixing means s100, a temporary component ratio calculating means s102, and a total value calculating means s104. The calculating means s102 changes the short-wavelength end in sequence, and calculates the secondary structure component ratio by the prescribed method. The calculating means s104 calculates the total value for each calculation wavelength range. If the error of the total value is the prescribed allowable value or below, a searching means s106 searches (s108)the maximum calculation wavelength range for the short-wavelength end. If the error of the total value is the prescribed allowable value or above, the searching means s106 searches (s110) the calculation wavelength range 100%-proximate to the total value.
