PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool tip position detecting device, and numerical control machine tool provided with a tool tip position detection device in which a tip position of a tool during rotation can be correctly detected. ;SOLUTION: As a tip 20a of a tool 20 shields laser beam from a laser oscillator 32, periodic fluctuation is detected based on received light quantity at a photodiode 34. A light receiver multiples an input signal from the photodiode 34 by a reference signal synchronized with rotation of the tool 20, and eliminates higher harmonic wave components, so periodic fluctuation of the received light quantity (as reach of laser beam to the tip 20a) is detected. Since the blade is measured by using light, a position of the tool 20 during rotation can be measured. By eliminating the higher harmonic wave components, noise can be eliminated, thereby the tip 20a can be detected at high precision.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
