PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bevel gear assembly to hold a backlash at a prescribed value or more and provide a differential device wherein the bevel gear pair is used in a differential gear mechanism. ;SOLUTION: A differential device comprises a differential gear mechanism 23 consisting of a differential case 3 rotationally driven by an engine, a pinion gear 17 revolving integrally with the differential case 3, and side gears 19 and 21 engaged with the pinion gear 17 to transmit the drive force of the engine to respective wheel sides; a differential gear mechanism 23; and frictional clutches 33 and 33 for a differential limit. The side gears 19 and 21 are provided with protrusion parts 43 and 49, respectively, which are brought into abutment against the pinion gear 17 and regulate mutual positions and hold a backlash at a prescribed value or more.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
