PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain materials acting to increase the number of peripheral blood helper T cells and acting to adjust the ratio of the peripheral blood helper T cells to suppressor T cells capable of promoting the rapid and efficient intake of vitamin D and improving immunicompetence. SOLUTION: This material is the vitamin D-conjugated protein recovered from oyster meat. Its mol.wt. is 40,000 to 60,000 and the vitamin D contained therein contains activated vitamin D and active type vitamin D. One mol.wt. of the activated vitamin D or one mol.wt. active type vitamin D is conjugated with one mol.wt. of this vitamin D-conjugated protein. The molar ratios of the amino acids which are the constituting components of the vitamin D- conjugated protein are 5 lysine, 5 aspartic acid, 4 serine, 6 glutamic acid, 3 proline and 6 leucine. The material has the maximal UV absorption at 280nm.
