PROPHYLACTIC AND/OR TREATING AGENT FOR HYPERPHOSPHATEMIA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a prophylactic and/or treating agent for a hyperphosphatemia, containing a pharmaceutically acceptable anion exchange resin as an active ingredient and useful for a prophylaxis and/or a treatment for a hyperphosphatemia caused by a disease of a functional disturbance of kidney. ;SOLUTION: This prophylactic and/or treating agent for a hyperphosphotemia comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable anion exchange resin (preferably the one selected from a 2-methylimidazole-epichlorohydrin copolymer, a cholestyramine resin and a colestipol, especially the 2-methylimidazole- epichlorohydrin copolymer). The effect of the treating agent is based on actions reducing both a phosphorous content in blood and a phosphorous discharge in urine. The treating agent can be orally administered. The treating agent for the oral dosing contains generally 5-95wt.%, preferably 25-90wt.% active ingredient.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
