PARTIAL RESPONSE MAXIMUM LIKELIHOOD SYSTEM AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the partial response maximum likelihood system that is provided with a maximum likelihood detector whose complicatedness is reduced without deteriorating the system function by saturating a value (y) from a gain control loop to be a small value within a range before the value is given to the maximum likelihood detector. ;SOLUTION: A quantity 'D' of a maximum likelihood detector 102 operated according to a partial response scheme has a relation to a maximum value of an input value 'y' processed by the maximum likelihood detector 102. The value 'y' from a gain control loop is saturated to be a value within a 2nd range smaller a 1st wide range and more than a maximum value of the value 'y' of an ideal input signal to the partial response scheme. The saturated value 'y' is given to the maximum likelihood detector 102. The quantity 'D' of the maximum likelihood detector 102 is within a 'range of an integer power of 2' different from the 'D' when the same partial response scheme and a value with in a wider range are given.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
