PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the PID filter of an MPEG2 demultiplexer for comparing PIDs using a content addressable memory by comparing a PID stored in a packet identification(PID) input means with a user-programmable PID. SOLUTION: The PID having a predetermined number of bits is supplied to and stored in the PID input part 20. Then, the fixed number of user- programmable PID is stored in a CAM(content addressable memory) 22, the PID stored in the PID input part 20 and the user-programmable PID are compared in parallel, and the predetermined number of compared results are outputted. The, the predetermined number of results are OR-operated and outputted, and the acquisition of packet data to be inputted to a packet data acquiring part 26 is selected, based on this output. Thus, since necessary system, clocks in an n-1 work size reduces to two clocks in the works case, a high-speed PID filtering function is enabled.
