PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to improve the working efficiency of a device and to obviate the impairment of the versatility of external apparatus by dispense with measurement of a reference value every time when operation to the same operator is started. ;SOLUTION: The processing of a reference value recording mode is executed only when the reference value is not stored on a card 3a inserted to a card input/output device 3. Namely, the operator's vital information is measured by a vital information measuring instrument 2 and the characteristic quantity of the measured vital information is calculated. The calculated characteristic quantity is stored in a characteristic quantity memory section 13. This processing is executed continuously until the prescribed time T elapses. The average value of the characteristic quantity stored in this characteristic quantity memory section 13 is then calculated as the reference value and the calculated reference value is written to the card 3a via the card input/output device 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
