SYNTHESIS OF FUNCTIONATED LARGE CYCLIC COMPOUND BY RING-CLOSING METATHESIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a large cyclic compound capable of being applied to the syntheses of perfume ingredients, ferrocenes, crown ethers, antibiotics and medicines by applying a ring-closing metathesis reaction(RCM) to a diene precursor in the presence of an olefin metathesis catalyst. ;SOLUTION: A ring-closing metathesis reaction is applied to a diene precursor in the presence of one of olefin metathesis catalysts I-IV or their precursors to obtain the large ring compound of the formula [A is a chain comprising n (CR₂) groups which each may be substituted by a different kind of an atom: Z; B is a chain comprising m (CR₂) groups which each may be substituted by the different kind of the atom: Z], having a functional group and a ring size (x) of 12-30, and comprising an ester derivative (Y is O, and X is O), amide derivative (Y is O, and X is NR¹), ether derivative (X is O, and Y is R, R) or amine derivative (X is NR², and Y is R, R).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
