PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residual quantity monitoring system and a residual quantity monitoring method capable of refilling a vessel with a medium before the medium in the vessel is exhausted. ;SOLUTION: The residual quantity monitoring device detects a customer record and updates the residual quantity of fuel when it receives a residual quantity reporting electric mail from a residual quantity detecting device. When the date is not a day before a holiday, the reported residual quantity in a fuel tank and a notification level for a day other than the day before the holiday are compared with each other. On the other hand, when the date is a day before a holiday, the residual quantity and a notification level for a the day before the holiday are compared with each other. In the case where the residual quantity of the fuel tank is lower than the compared notification level, the information such as the name of the customer of the fuel tank and the customer's ID is outputted. Upon the predetermined time, the residual quantity monitoring device counts the number of fuel tanks each of which residual quantity is lower than a second notification level. When the number is equal to or greater than a reference number, information such as the customer names of the fuel tanks 1 and the customer's IDs is outputted.
