PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give excellent rust preventing property to a machine body of an outboard motor by anodically oxidizing the surface of the outboard motor machine body made of a die cast of the aluminum alloy containing copper, sealing treating with a potassium permanganate aq. solution and further coating the surface. ;SOLUTION: The anodically oxidized film b-1 is formed on the surface by degreasing and cleaning the surface of the outboard motor machine body a-1 made of the die cast composed of the aluminum alloy JIS ADC 10 or ADC 12 containing copper and anodically oxidizing in a sulfuric acid electrolyte bath. Successively the void of the anodically oxidized film is sealed by treating the surface of the anodically oxidized film b-1 with the potassium permanganate aq. solution. Next, A primer c-1 consisting essentially of a non-chromium type urethane modified epoxy ether resin is applied on the surface and further a top coating material d-1 and a clear coating material e-1 are applied thereon.
