PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the leakage of liquid with a simple structure by constituting the picture frames of filter plates of elastic members and integrally fitting these elastic picture frames to the edges of the core plates of the filter plates, thereby constituting the simplex filter plate of a filter press. SOLUTION: The filter plate 1 of the simplex filter press has the core plate 2 having recessed parts 2e, 2g for engagement on the outer edge and the elastic picture frame 3 having projecting parts for engagement to be fitted into the recessed parts 2e, 2g for engagement arranged at the outer edge of the core plate 2. The projecting parts for engagement of the elastic picture frame 3 are fitted into the recessed parts 2e, 2g for engagement of the core plate 2 so that the elastic picture frame 3 fits tightly to the elastic picture frame 3 of the adjacent filter plate 1 to prevent liquid leakage at the time of tightening of the filter plate. The core plate 2 has a filter bed 2b in the central part of a plate body having approximately a rectangular shape and an original liquid supply port 2a penetrating its center is formed. The frame-like picture frame part 2i is constituted around this filter bed 2b. The respective angle parts of the plate body are provided with projecting lug parts 2c. These lug parts 2c are provided with liquid holes 2d penetrating in the thickness direction.
