PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a fatigue damage period of a structure to be predicted by making a constitution wherein a test piece body comprising the same material as that of the structure with an artificial crack provided at the center is interposed between thin resin plates and both plates are stuck except the center of the test piece body. ;SOLUTION: A sacrifice test piece body 1 comprises the same material as that of a structure whose fatigue damage is to be predicted, an artificial crack is provided at a lengthwise center, and it is as thin as approximately 0.25mm. A polytetrafluoroethylene film 4 is wound around an entire periphery of a certain region of the center of such a test piece body 1 and interposed between thin resin plates 3, and both plates are stuck integrally with epoxy resin adhesive for example. The sacrifice test piece is stuck in the vicinity of a hot spot of a member of the structure to be predicted for use. By this method for attaching the sacrifice test piece, a service life of the structural member can be directly estimated without intervention of a cumulative damage rule from a service life of the sacrifice test piece.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
