PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily polish the nail by keeping a nail file stable against the run out in the thickness direction of the nail without needing to form the file long and also by small sizing the file resulting in the use as an ornament such as a pendant. ;SOLUTION: The nail file comprises a step by thinning the plate at the outer periphery of a plate member and the low flat face of the step makes a guide face 7 having enough width and the stepping wall face makes a file 8. The edge Na of the nail N is polished by keeping the edge Na of a nail N in contact with the nail file 8 and by reciprocally moving the nail file or the edge Na of nail N along the guide face 7. The file 8 and the guide face 7 is made curve as the curvature along the curved face of the nail N in the width direction of the nail N while making the step side of the plate member inside. The edge Na of a nail N is polished by keeping the edge Na of a nail N in contact with the nail file 8 and reciprocally moving the nail file or the edge Na of nail N along the curved face of the nail N.
