PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilic polymer, which has both film-forming properties and surface-active effect and is useful as a condensed lithographic printing dampening water and a condensed dampening water, which includes the above- mentioned polymer and does not include an IPA, conforms to the regulations of the Fire Services Act and the laborers Safety and Health Act. ;SOLUTION: A lithographic printing dampening water composition is a polymerized compound obtained from one or more kinds of monomers represented by a formula, in which R represents H₂C=CH- or CH₂=C(CH₃)- and (x), (y) and (z) respectively represent an integer from 0 or 1 through 20 under the condition that x+y+z is an integer at least larger than 1. Further, as a condensed lithographic printing dampening water, a polymerized compound, which is obtained from one or more kinds of the nomoners represented by the formula and a water-soluble monomer, is used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
